After a torrent of protests the ban on cycling into Edinburgh Waverley station has been lifted - but there's a barrier to force dismounting at the bottom.

Traffic-free route to Haymarket station

NCN1 by the railway and tramway west from Haymarket station

Cycle route (NCN1) crossing tram tracks at Haymarket station, Edinburgh

Very narrow cycle lane - obviously trams will just have to hang back and follow cyclists, but it's still terrifying just to see this.

I wonder if @forthroadbridge have plans to trim the bushes, as pedestrians can't keep to their side of the line. https://t.co/84pIlB6kcQ

Toucan crossing across Craigmillar Castle Road

A cycle path in front of flats in Craigmillar Castle Road. While this bit is straight, it gets twisty further down the hill. Parked cars protrude into the cycle space.

The Innocent Railway Path approaching the Innocent Tunnel, with the path into Holyrood Park off to the left.

The John Muir Way turns left here, to join the Innocent Railway Path (NCN1).

Many of the bridges on the Union Canal towpath have poor sightlines along the path.

The Union Canal has quite a narrow towpath, requiring users to co-operate to pass each other, which disrupts things like being sociable. Imagine if car users had to travel single file!

Poor sightlines at bridges on the Union Canal - a common problem right along the canal's length.

The path from Cultins Road joins the Union Canal towpath, which is lit with LED catseyes at this point. No identification of the location is offered to canal users.

The official link between the Union Canal and Cultins Road, which has both a double yellow line and a white line across the dropped kerb.

Poor sightlines at Royal Mail depot (I could hear a lorry about to depart from behind the hedge) and irregular parking across a dropped kerb (although there is a second dropped kerb further round).

Poor quality shared-use footway and signage on the one-way section of Cultins Road.

A shared-use footway with no separation from the carriageway, and just minimal warning outside tramstop.

A path under the railway line at Edinburgh Park station. There isn't really any reason why the steps connecting the path to the station couldn't have a ramp, removing the need for the detour via Lochside Crescent.

The sign says it's a cycle path, so why the right angled turn?

A path crossing and linking to the Blackhall and Telford Paths at Craigleith Quarry. Give Way markings have been provided on the main paths.

Path junction where the Roseburn Path (see #59015) splits into the Blackhall Path and the Telford Path. Another path crosses these, and Give Way markings have been put on the main paths.

Rumble strips on the approach to a path junction and crossings (see #59016)

Path junction near Balgreen tram stop

The cycleway alongside the tramway at Carrick Knowe

While including a cycle track alongside this section of the tramway is commendable, planting the lighting columns within the width of the path is not.
