[Image taken August 2023] A ScotRail train. [No street view relevant to this image.] Cycles stored upended on hooks (this practice excludes most people from being able to travel with a non-folding cycle on a train due to the physical requirements a human needs but also because the space in the lockers is massively limited and the diameter of the hooks excludes wider tyres. ScotRail has taken out seats to accommodate laden cycles and people who can lift a cycle horizontally onto a service and roll it in and out to store it. This means there are six spaces on these services.

I [Rebba] asked ScotRail: “Does your website give people the option of choosing horizontal over hooks where there is a choice on a service [as in this image]? The ScotRail Active Travel Manager replied: “No we do not differentiate between the 2 hanging spaces and 4 roll on spaces.”
The Active Travel Manager sent Rebba a screen shot that says you can book up to four cycles at a time in person, by phone or online. The same image says for larger groups you should make separate bookings or call the telesales number. The opening hours for the latter are practical: Monday to Sunday 07.00-22.00.
