[Image taken 7.2.23] Royale Spice, Burton Stone Lane, looking towards Horner Street, York. The area of fake grass is enclosed. The perimeter is painted white but it has an upstand. Humans take the shortest route... to Horner Street, to the crossing towards the butcher's, but also because 90 degree turns are not possible. Local people are already struggling with this trip hazard. And catching their mobility buggies on the corner. Note the size of the delivery vehicle in the background. Those for Sainsbury's (and branded as such) are this size too. Note the modest dimensions of Horner Street - a residential street. With the change to rapid delivery from local supermarkets the outlets need resupplying more regularly. A huge burden in terms of noise, danger, inconvenience and pollution (other traffic gets held up while the delivery vehicles manoeuvre) to the residents. Other image here today: #190864.
